Welcome to TapeReady Radio. I'm your host, and today we're doing something short and practical: a five minute reset on framing your self-tape.

Start with the camera at eye level. Not chest level, not on the floor propped against a book. Eye level. If the lens looks up at you, casting reads it as a video call, not a scene.

Second: leave a little headroom, but not a lot. About a fist of space above your hair. Frame from mid-chest up for a standard read, and keep your eyeline just beside the lens, where your reader is sitting.

Third: give the background a job. One clean wall, one soft value, nothing that competes. A sliver of shadow behind you separates your shoulders from the wall and the whole tape looks intentional.

And last: check the tape at phone size before you send it. If your face reads clearly at three inches wide, it reads in the casting room. That's the whole test.

That's the episode. Full transcript is on the page, and the lighting and audio guides are linked underneath. Thanks for listening to TapeReady Radio.
