Biography
TapeReady's editorial team writes every guide on this site. The group is made up of working actors who self-tape weekly, plus editors and camera assistants who spend their days looking at footage shot in bedrooms, hallways and hotel rooms.
Everything published here is tested in the same conditions readers work in: rented rooms with bad overhead light, thin walls, one lamp, and a phone. If a technique only works in a treated studio, it does not make the guide.
Gear coverage follows the same rule. Products are used on real submissions before they are written about, and picks are ranked by what survives a busy audition week rather than by spec sheets.
How we work
- Every recommendation tested on real audition submissions, not demo footage
- Setups built and shot in apartments and shared spaces, never rented studios
- Casting feedback gathered from associates who watch tapes daily
- Gear picks re-checked as prices, firmware and app versions change
The people behind the byline
Every guide is written and checked by one of these four. Reach any of them directly.
Dana Reyes
Editor — lighting and setups
Self-tape coach who builds and shoots every lighting setup we publish, usually in a bedroom smaller than the one you are working in.
Marcus Hale
Audio and gear reviews
Camera assistant and location sound mixer. Runs every microphone through real submissions before it earns a spot in the gear picks.
Priya Nair
Workflow, apps and file delivery
Working actor who tapes weekly. Tests the editing apps, naming conventions and upload paths casting offices actually accept.
Jordan Okafor
Casting insight and fact checking
Former casting associate. Checks claims about what readers on the other side of the tape can and cannot see.
